Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, notably for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Players have started using custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, underscoring just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping BF6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, different from the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four types of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons found within the game.
Several of these locked weapons may soon find their way on rosters of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration across Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Ridiculously Tough Mission
A different forum member brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles
This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option at a push if you aim to take long-range shots from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, including AI opponents. This means you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game seems counterproductive, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Upcoming Tweaks
It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, anticipating a fairer player experience in coming revisions.
