19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He defended four early chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
