Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases

Much like the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.

Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Big Year for Mario

The new Mario movie is set to release around the time of the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.

Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
