It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

Then best known as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her bow and seven international trophies have followed from 10 tries across formats.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Many contend the case for championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.
