Authorities stated they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.

An important representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
